ORGANIZATIONS (savc.info) in this context. These are membership groups for US Military Veterans, several of which allow and encourage non-veteran associate memberships that support the causes of Veterans plus endeavor to meet needs in the local community through various service projects. If you are a Veteran or wish to support Veterans and your community, we encourage you to contact one or more of the organizations. ADVA Mission: To promote awareness and assist eligible veterans, their families, and survivors in receiving from the U. S. and state governments any benefits to which they may be entitled under existing or future laws to be enacted. Did you know the Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs is NOT part of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs? The ADVA is a State of Alabama department that assists former members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their dependents in numerous capacities. We provide services that complement those of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. This includes preparing claims for and securing compensation, hospitalization, education, vocational training, and other benefits or privileges that veterans may be qualified for under Federal or State Law or regulation because of their military service. Among our many facilities, we operate state veterans' homes, a state veterans cemetery, and numerous Veterans Service Offices (VSO) around the state.
The Alabama State VETERANS' Cemetery in Spanish Ft. Al is now accepting pre-registration for eligible Veterans who desire to indicate this cemetery as their choice for burial.
